A few days after the New York Times’ online comic strip The Amazing Spider-Man hit shelves, its creator and writer Ben Urich posted an essay titled, “How to be geek.”
It’s not a great guide to becoming a comic book writer.
And it’s a lot less about what to do than what to say about being a writer.
Instead, it’s an exploration of how the internet—the one thing that really matters to Urich and other Internet-savvy people—works.
In his essay, Urich argues that the Internet is more like a car than a business.
Like all things, there are ways to build an online business on the web.
And like all businesses, it can take a little bit of trial and error to get your online presence and website up and running.
But Urich’s thesis is that it’s possible to start and grow a blog that you can call your own.
The internet can be a great place to build a blog, but the more you learn about it, the more important it becomes to have the confidence that you’re building a real business.
Here are some of the main points of Urichs advice: 1.
Make the right decisions.
Urich tells his story through a series of blog posts and talks at events.
In these talks, he outlines the decisions he makes when he writes comics, how they impact his life, and how to improve them.
2.
The web isn’t for everyone.
As Urich says in one talk, there’s “nothing wrong with being a little eccentric.
It’s just that the internet is just so much more fun than writing.”
3.
It helps if you have a few ideas.
“In a way, it helps you to think about what the problem is,” Urich writes in one of his talks.
4.
If you’re not writing comics, you should be doing something else.
If that sounds like a lot of stuff to do, it probably is.
But as Urich notes in his talk, he’s only halfway through his career as a writer, and his goal isn’t to create a blog.
It is to make comics.
5.
If it doesn’t work, get another one.
Urickes blog is filled with advice and tips on how to get more people to read and buy his work.
He says it’s like “a mini-blog” and “a really good blog.”
6.
Take a page from Ben’s book.
Urik says his biggest lesson is to always make sure you’re following the rules and following your readers.
7.
It takes a lot to make a living.
It doesn’t take a lot in terms of time or money to be an online comic creator, but it does take a big commitment.
And Urik doesn’t make a lot on his own, but he does help others out with his blog, and he doesn’t have to. 8.
There are plenty of ways to get paid to create.
Uriches most lucrative gig is as a freelance writer for companies like Wired, Mashable, and BuzzFeed, but Urik has a second gig as a paid comic creator.
He also runs a blog called The Amazing Ben Urick, which has over 700,000 followers.
Uricks biggest client is his wife, writer Kate O’Connor, who also writes for BuzzFeed and The Atlantic.
9.
Don’t be afraid to start a company.
Uryns advice is to not give up.
He writes that there are plenty to be made in this world, and that starting a blog is the only way to get there.
If your business is still on the ground in five years, he says, you may want to consider starting a company and starting making money.
But don’t be surprised if you start small.
10.
If everything goes well, you might just end up as an overnight success.
Uriys goal in life is to get to a point where he can have a normal, normal life, he writes.
But he says that the most important thing is to focus on the things that matter most: getting people to buy his books, improving his website, and making his blog.
Urienks best advice is: “You have to be okay with your failures.
If the business is going well, it will be fine.
If not, the business will fail.
If I fail at anything, I fail as a human being.
But if I fail in the business, it’ll be okay.
So just be okay.”
