Emily Blurt discusses her new book about politics and sex, Sex Politics, with host Alex Rivkin.
The book, Sex Politically, follows Blunt as she investigates why the politics of sex are often used as a political weapon.
Blunt talks about how politicians are often seen as having sex in order to win, and what that means for women’s reproductive rights and gender equality.
She also talks about her work with her friend, actress and feminist activist Amy Schumer, and the importance of sex-positive activism.
Blunt discusses why she chose to write about politics with Rivkin, as she has since she first started writing about politics.
“I want to try and tell a story that’s about power and privilege that doesn’t feel reductive,” Blunt said.
“It feels like a story about what we do, what we feel, what the people around us are feeling, what they’re saying.”
The book is published by Hachette, with Blunt, Schumer and others as the cover artist.
